Tonya McKee

Registered Social Worker., Founder and CEO
Tonya has been working in the mental health sector as a Social Worker since 2013. Tonya has been successfully coaching clients throughout the Simcoe Muskoka area and facilitating their self-growth. If you are feeling overwhelmed by life’s demands, her services aim to introduce clarity and self-motivation. We will work together as I show you the techniques to better manage the emotional stress of everyday life.
Tonya values creating a collaborative, therapeutic relationship. Tonya meets clients where they are at in the present moment whether they are seeking a safe, non-judgmental space to explore their thoughts, feelings and needs, or have specific goals that they want to address. Her practice supports adults, youth and couples who would like to further explore anxiety, depression, trauma, relationships, communication, self-regulation, and self-compassion. I enjoy working with a diverse population and can also support individuals with Oncology diagnosis and geriatric background with my formal training.

My ongoing education and passion for learning includes certification in ACT, CBT, CBTp, Gottman Method Level 1, Institute for Child Psychology Trainings, Single Session Counselling, Mindfulness, Brief Solution Focused, Motivational Interviewing, and Strengths Based approaches.

Why choose a nurse for psychotherapy? Many nurses have specialized education in mental health or work in mental health settings. Just like social workers and psychologists, nurses have specialized experience to provide psychotherapy.
Many benefit providers have started to cover nurses who provide psychotherapy including: Manulife, Veteran’s Affairs Canada, Greenshield, Medavie Blue Cross, OTIP/RTIP, NIHB, Desjardins, Sun Life etc. If you would like to see Stacey for counselling, give your benefits a call to see if you are covered.
