NEWS & TIPS

Helpful Information

True North Counselling Supports would like to take this opportunity to  acknowledge that we are situated on the traditional land of the Anishnaabeg people. The Anishnaabeg include the Ojibway, Odawa, and Potawattami nations, collectively known as the Three Fires Confederacy. We are dedicated to honouring indigenous history and culture and committed to moving forward in the spirit of reconciliation and respect with all First Nations, Inuit and Metis people.

We respect diversity, and strive for  and encourage inclusion with all people.

What to Expect in your first session at True North Counselling Supports.

During your first session, your counsellor will go over some things such as consent and confidentiality and other house-keeping items.

Your counsellor may also ask you questions to better understand the issues that brought you to counselling and what your goals are. Here are some examples of questions you may be asked in your first session:

  • What are the concerns that brought you here?

  • How long have you had those concerns?

  • What have you tried to do to address those concerns? What has worked and what has not worked?

  • What makes it worse? What makes it better?

  • Have you received counselling in the past? What worked? What didn’t?
We encourage anyone to bring questions and concerns to their sessions so we may help people make an informed decision about their counselling and therapy.

Counselling and Therapy is something you may submit at Tax season as an expense.

Many insurance plans include benefit coverage for a Registered Social Worker.

We are now offering Group sessions to help keep costs manageable for clients.
